As you can see, I've redesigned my Upper Register website. But the change is more than cosmetic and involves a shift in emphasis as well. Most of the papers and mp3's from the old site have been transferred to this one, but not all. If you can't find something that used to be on the old site, email me and I'll send it as an attachment. I'm intentionally phasing out some of my old papers to make room for new interests.
The site continues to have plenty of material in the area of Biblical Theology in the tradition of Geerhardus Vos and Meredith Kline. But since I'm now working toward a Ph.D. in New Testament under Donald Hagner at Fuller Theological Seminary it seemed appropriate to move the site in a more academic direction. I'm interested in a variety of aspects of New Testament studies, including the following:
- Paul's epistle to the Romans
- Jesus and Paul on the Law
- The New Perspective on Paul
- Jews, Gentiles, and God-fearers
- Influence of LXX upon NT
- Greek-speaking Diaspora Judaism
- Philological aspects of the Greek NT
- NT Theology - Theological Interpretation
- Early Christology
Over time I plan to put up new papers on these areas written at a scholarly level, as well as to keep readers abreast of my scholarly research and publications.
In spite of these changes and the more academic focus, it is my desire to continue the pastoral, Christocentric focus that characterized the old site. Scholarship is not an end in itself but part of my calling to be a servant of Jesus Christ. As my hero the apostle Paul said:
"I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead" (Philippians 3:8-11 NASB).
